Suryoday Small Finance Bank Leads Gains as SENSEX Climbs Near 130 Points

On Monday, October 5, Suryoday Small Finance Bank shares surged up to 4.6%, reaching an intraday high of ₹150.19 on the NSE. The rise followed the bank’s announcement of a 34.6% year‑on‑year increase in gross advances to ₹14,972 crore for Q2 FY27, after a write‑off of ₹591 crore. Disbursements climbed 27.4% YoY to ₹3,095 crore, up from ₹2,430 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Asset quality improved as gross non‑performing assets fell by 360 basis points quarter‑on‑quarter to 2.9%, down from 6.5% in Q1 FY27.

The broader market mirrored the positive sentiment, with the SENSEX climbing 129.59 points to 72,039.30 at 1:17 PM, a 0.18% gain, while the NIFTY50 stood at 22,467.80, up 45.85 points or 0.20%. Both indices had earlier touched intraday highs of 72,631.93 and 22,621.80 respectively, before settling below those peaks. Global crude oil prices easing contributed to the buoyant trading environment, keeping the indices in the green zone during noon deals.

Investor focus also turned to finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s remarks on the India‑US trade deal. She stated that the deal remains unfinalised and negotiations continue, noting that both sides have reached a plateau beyond which concessions may be difficult. Sitharaman added that a new template for bilateral investment treaties, prepared over the last one‑and‑a‑half years, is ready for Cabinet approval to enhance investor protection and address shortcomings of the 2016 model.

Among the top performers in the NIFTY50 were BSE, Tata Motors PV, Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance, and ITC Ltd, which contributed to the index’s 0.9% rise. Bajaj Finance shares climbed 5% to an intraday high of ₹995.80 after reporting new loans booked at 13.45 million, an 11% YoY increase, and assets under management of ₹5.85 lakh crore, up 26.5% from ₹4.62 lakh crore a year earlier.

Other notable gains included FSN E‑Commerce Ventures, the parent of Nykaa, which rose 6.03% to ₹344.55 after announcing consolidated gross merchandise value expected to be close to the thirties and net revenue growth in the late twenties for Q2 FY27. Marico and Raymond Realty also saw shares rise 4% and 6.4% respectively, buoyed by strong revenue forecasts and doubled pre‑sales in Q2 FY27.

Conversely, HDFC Bank shares fell 2.77% to an intraday low of ₹701.25 following the appointment of Anup Bagchi as MD & CEO, while V2 Retail plunged 19.4% to a 52‑week low of ₹162.33 after reporting muted same‑store sales growth of 0.5% despite a 28.4% YoY revenue rise. Marine Electricals India surged 9% to a 52‑week high of ₹474.2 after securing four orders worth ₹393.52 crore, and Avenue Supermarts shares dropped 6.2% to ₹3,575.70 after reporting an 18.4% rise in standalone revenue to ₹19,206.18 crore for Q2 FY27.
