Vedanta Shares Surge 3.8% as Board Meets to Consider FY27 Interim Dividend

Vedanta shares rose 3.8 % to touch an intraday high of ₹264.90 on Tuesday, October 6, after the company announced that its board will meet on Thursday, October 8, 2026 to consider and approve its first interim dividend for the financial year 2026‑27 (FY27). The regulatory filing also fixed the record date for determining entitlement to the dividend as Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Over the preceding month the stock has fallen 5 %, and over a six‑month period it has declined 63 %. At 10:21 AM on the National Stock Exchange the shares were trading at ₹264.55, up 3.69 %.

Last month, Vedanta Group’s flagship company considered and approved the issuance of non‑convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis to raise funds aggregating up to ₹3,500 crore from investors. Vedanta will issue up to 3,50,000 or 3.5 lakh NCDs, each at a face value of ₹1 lakh, in order to raise up to ₹3,500 crore. The overall fundraising move will be carried out in one or more tranches. The debentures will be offered to institutional and high net worth investors under a private placement framework.

Vedanta Ltd has been trading on a post‑demerger basis since April 30, 2026, after the company’s demerger scheme became effective on May 1. April 30 was effectively the ex‑demerger date, as May 1 was a stock‑market holiday. Under the scheme, Vedanta shareholders received one share each in the four demerged entities for every one Vedanta Ltd share held as of the record date. The four resulting companies—Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil and Gas, and Vedanta Iron and Steel—were listed and began trading on the NSE and BSE on June 15, 2026.

According to NSE data, as of October 5, 2026, Vedanta has a total market capitalisation of ₹99,734.45 crore. At 10:21 AM on the National Stock Exchange the shares were trading at ₹264.55, up 3.69 %. The stock’s 52‑week high was ₹795 on April 21, 2026, and its 52‑week low was ₹247.25 on October 1, 2026. The company’s share price has fallen 5 % over the last month and 63 % over the last six months. The shares have been volatile, reflecting broader market swings and company-specific developments in recent weeks.

The board’s meeting on October 8, 2026 will consider the first interim dividend for FY27, with the record date set for October 14, 2026. Vedanta’s restructuring aims to create focused, sector‑specific businesses and simplify its corporate structure, enabling sharper strategic focus, independent capital allocation and greater accountability. The parent listed company continues to house businesses including Hindustan Zinc and its future‑facing ventures, while the four demerged entities operate as separate listed entities with their own management, capital allocation and growth strategy.
