Capacite Infraprojects Shares Rise 4.6% After Securing ₹369 Crore Chennai Metro Order
Capacite Infraprojects shares surged 4.6% to an intraday high of ₹186.97 on Tuesday, October 6, following the company’s announcement of a letter of acceptance (LOA) from Chennai Metro Rail Limited for a construction order worth ₹368.98 crore excluding goods and services tax (GST). The stock reaction occurred during the afternoon trading session after the order book update was disclosed. NSE data showed the shares jumped from the previous close of ₹178.62 to the new high, reflecting investor optimism over the sizeable contract.
Trading volume exceeded 9,22,000 equity shares across the NSE and BSE, contributing to the high‑volume gains observed during the session. After touching the day‑high, Capacite shares settled at an intermediate level of ₹184.81, up 3.4% from the close. The order involves construction of buildings near Thirumangalam Metro Station, covering civil, architectural finishes, plumbing, electrical & mechanical, ventilation, air‑conditioning, lifts and associated works along the viaduct in open land parcels.
Rahul Katyal, Managing Director of Capacite Infraprojects, stated that the project marks a significant milestone, strengthening the company’s presence in the public sector and reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in nation‑building initiatives. The company, a civil contractor partnering with leading real‑estate developers nationwide, views the contract as a key contribution to India’s urban transport development. The LOA confirms the firm’s continued engagement in large‑scale infrastructure projects.
Financially, the ₹368.98 crore order represents approximately 58% of Capacite’s total revenue from core operations in the June quarter of FY27. The company reported revenue of ₹628.93 crore for the first quarter of FY27, up from ₹589.35 crore a year earlier. Net profit declined 15% YoY to ₹39.84 crore from ₹46.99 crore, largely due to increased overall expenses, including construction costs during the period under review.
Over the past five years, Capacite shares have delivered a modest 0.45% return to investors, while the stock has fallen 12.3% over the last three years and more than 34% in the past year. Year‑to‑date, the share price is down 27.7% in 2026, with a 14.3% decline in the past month. In the last five market sessions, shares have risen 1.3%. The 52‑week high of ₹314.25 was reached on November 17, 2025, and the 52‑week low of ₹175.99 occurred on October 5, 2026.
As of the trading session on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Capacite Infraprojects’ market capitalisation stood at ₹1,563 crore. The company’s recent order and the resulting share price movement underscore the market’s positive reception to large infrastructure contracts, while the broader financial performance highlights the impact of rising construction costs on profitability. Investors will likely monitor future contract wins and cost management as key indicators of the company’s trajectory.
