Vedanta Approves ₹5 Per Share Interim Dividend, Sets Record Date for FY27

On Thursday, October 8, Vedanta’s board of directors approved a first interim dividend for the financial year 2026‑27. The dividend amounts to ₹5 per equity share, based on a face value of ₹1 per share, totaling roughly ₹1,955 crore. The record date for the payout is set for October 14, 2026. At 1:18 PM the company’s shares traded at ₹254.45 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.89 %.

Earlier in September, Vedanta Group’s flagship company approved the issuance of non‑convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis to raise up to ₹3,500 crore. The company will issue up to 3,50,000 NCDs, each with a face value of ₹1 lakh, allowing it to raise the targeted amount in one or more tranches. The move follows the dividend decision and aims to strengthen the firm’s capital base.

On the day of the dividend announcement, Vedanta’s share price touched an intraday low of ₹254.05 and a high of ₹262.35. Over the past month, the stock has fallen 16 %, and over six months it has declined 64 %. The 52‑week high reached ₹795 on April 21, 2026, while the 52‑week low was ₹247.25 on October 1, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, the company’s market capitalisation exceeds ₹1 lakh crore.

Vedanta reported a 71.8 % rise in consolidated net profit to ₹5,473 crore for the quarter ended June 2026 (Q1 FY27). The increase was driven by higher sales amid rising global metal prices and a weaker rupee. Revenue from operations climbed 53.6 % to ₹24,205 crore from ₹15,754 crore a year earlier. Expenses rose to ₹17,558 crore from ₹13,203 crore in the same period, reflecting higher input costs. The company attributes the profit surge to improved operational efficiencies and favorable commodity price movements.

Vedanta Ltd remains the parent listed company, overseeing businesses such as Hindustan Zinc and other future‑facing ventures. The firm’s total market capitalisation, as reported by NSE data on October 8, 2026, stands at over ₹1 lakh crore. This valuation reflects the conglomerate’s diversified mining operations and its recent financial performance, including the substantial dividend and NCD issuance. Investors note that the company continues to pursue growth through both organic expansion and strategic capital raises.
