RBL Bank Q2 2026-27 Net Profit Surges 170% Amid Rising Interest Income and Provisioning

RBL Bank announced its July‑September quarter (Q2) earnings for the financial year 2026‑27 on Monday, October 12, reporting a 170% year‑on‑year increase in net profit after tax to ₹482 crore, up from ₹179 crore in the same period a year earlier. The private sector institutional lender attributed the jump to a healthy rise in interest income during the quarter. On a sequential basis, net profit rose 90% to ₹482 crore from ₹254 crore in Q1 FY27, reflecting strong earnings momentum.

The bank’s net interest income (NII) advanced 23% to ₹4,322 crore in Q2, compared with ₹3,507 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. This growth in NII contributed significantly to the profit surge. However, the lender also increased its provisioning by around 53% to ₹767 crore in the September quarter, up from ₹500 crore in the same quarter of the prior fiscal year, signalling a cautious approach to potential credit losses.

Despite the higher provisioning, RBL Bank’s asset quality improved markedly. Gross non‑performing assets (NPAs) fell nearly 39% year‑on‑year to ₹1,456 crore from ₹2,378 crore a year earlier. The NPA ratio contracted 130 basis points to 1.02% in Q2, down from 2.32% in the corresponding quarter a year earlier, indicating a healthier loan portfolio and reduced credit risk exposure.

Shares of RBL Bank closed 0.07% lower at ₹417.70 on October 12, after trading at ₹418 earlier in the session, according to NSE data. The company’s shares are expected to be in focus on Tuesday, October 13, following the announcement of the Q2 earnings after market hours on Monday. The stock’s recent performance shows a 32% year‑to‑date rise in 2026 and a 1.2% gain in the past month.

Over the past five years, RBL Bank shares have delivered more than 117% returns to investors, with a 69% return over the last three years and a 43% rise in the past one‑year period. The 52‑week high reached ₹429.60 on September 23, 2026, while the 52‑week low stood at ₹279.20 on October 9, 2025. The bank’s market capitalisation was ₹64,838 crore as of the close on October 12, 2026.

The institution’s Q2 earnings highlight a robust growth in interest income coupled with prudent provisioning and improved asset quality. While the bank’s net profit and NII saw substantial year‑on‑year gains, the increase in provisions reflects a cautious stance towards potential credit losses. Investors and market observers will likely scrutinise the bank’s subsequent performance and guidance in the coming quarters.
