Nestlé India Posts Second Straight Quarter of Profit Growth, Clocks Double‑Digit Volume Growth in Q2
Nestlé India reported a net profit of ₹1,027 crore for the September quarter of the current financial year, up from ₹753 crore in the same period last year, marking the second consecutive quarter of profit growth. The company, India's leading FMCG firm, announced the results on Thursday, October 15, attributing the rise to double‑digit volume growth across its product groups.
Total revenue from operations increased 20% to ₹6,788 crore, compared with ₹5,643 crore a year earlier. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 31% to ₹1,615 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded by 200 basis points to 23.8%. These figures were supported by strong sales across all product groups and an expanded distribution network, particularly in rural markets.
Chairman and Managing Director Manish Tiwary said the quarter saw a continuation of strong and broad‑based growth across all product groups, with total sales reaching ₹6,782.2 crore, a growth of 20.5%, driven by robust, double‑digit volume growth. He added that e‑commerce continued its strong trajectory, supported by sustained shopper engagement and focused channel‑specific execution, while general trade delivered robust double‑digit growth across town classes, led by strong momentum in rural markets.
The nutrition category continued to deliver sequentially strengthening performance, with toddlers‑specific products posting strong growth and market share gains. Nestlé’s flagship product MAGGI focused on building brand love and expanding variety, introducing MAGGI Double Masala, a Spicy range and scaling up the new MAGGI veg atta with taste of MAGGI masala. The company warned that coffee and wheat are expected to remain range‑bound, while sugar and edible oils have stabilised at elevated levels.
At 1:17 pm, Nestlé shares traded 5.5% lower at ₹1,308, underperforming the NIFTY50 index, which was up nearly 2%. The decline followed the company’s announcement of stronger‑than‑expected earnings for the September quarter. The market reaction reflected the company’s reported double‑digit volume growth and 20% rise in revenue, while the broader market remained buoyant. Investors noted the company's robust EBITDA margin expansion and the continued strength of its e‑commerce and general trade channels.
