Ultratech Cement Q2FY27: 21.3% Profit Rise, Shares Decline 1.6%
Ultratech Cement released its Q2FY27 earnings on Monday, with shares falling 1.6% to ₹10,680 on the NSE. The company posted double‑digit growth across the board for the quarter ended September 2026. Revenue rose 18% year‑on‑year to ₹23,024 crore from ₹19,371 crore in the same period last year, while grey cement sales increased 13.8% to 35.94 million tonnes from 31.58 million tonnes. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation climbed 17.3% to ₹3,832 crore, and net profit rose 21.3% to ₹1,501 crore.
Operating margins remained largely unchanged at 16.6%, slightly below 16.8% a year earlier. Logistics costs stayed flat, fuel costs rose 14% year‑on‑year, and power costs fell 12%, helping to offset some margin pressure. Capacity utilisation increased from 66% to 75% in the quarter, reflecting stronger manufacturing capacity and disciplined execution amid a weaker monsoon and the West Asian crisis.
On 19th October 2026, the board approved the issuance of a corporate guarantee up to $55 million in connection with a loan to be obtained by UHG Holdings IFSC Private Limited, an associate company. Grasim Industries, the promoter of Ultratech Cement and Hindalco, holds a 9% and 50% stake in UHG Holding IFSC Ltd. The guarantee is a corporate support measure for the associate company’s financing needs.
Ultratech also launched Ultravolt, a wires and cables business, adding a new category to its brand portfolio. The project’s planned capacity expansion positions the company as the second‑largest in the industry, with 78,000 mt of copper wires and 24,000 mt of aluminum wires capacity. Initial production is expected to begin in the third quarter of FY27, with full capacity anticipated by FY28.
Despite the robust earnings, Ultratech shares have been among the top laggards in the NIFTY50, falling nearly 10% year‑to‑date in 2026 and 13.9% over the trailing twelve months. The stock traded at ₹10,680 on Monday, down 1.6% from the previous close, reflecting broader market volatility and ongoing macroeconomic uncertainties.
