Transrail Lighting Shares Surge 10% on ₹927 Crore Order Wins
Transrail Lighting shares surged 9.74% to an intraday high of ₹494.65 on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday, October 21, up from the previous session’s closing price of ₹450.75. The stock remained in green territory during the session but closed below the day’s peak. The rally followed the announcement that the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm had secured fresh orders worth ₹927 crore, primarily in its Domestic Power T&D business, as disclosed in a regulatory filing dated October 20.
These new contracts mainly comprise EPC projects for 765‑kilovolt (kV) and 400kV transmission lines within the domestic market, and also include conductor supply orders to the United States of America. The addition of these projects has lifted Transrail Lighting’s total order intake for the year to ₹3,356 crore, with more than ₹2,300 crore of orders declared in the last three weeks alone. These projects are expected to enhance the company’s domestic footprint and diversify its revenue streams. The company’s focus on high‑voltage transmission lines positions it to capture growing demand for grid infrastructure.
Randeep Narang, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, remarked that the strong momentum in order inflows underscores Transrail’s growing scale and competitiveness in the power T&D sector. He highlighted the company’s ability to secure complex transmission EPC projects, backed by its in‑house tower and conductor manufacturing capabilities, as a key differentiator. Narang added that with a solid foothold in the domestic market and an expanding international business, the firm is focused on building a well‑diversified portfolio across its products and services.
On October 19, Transrail’s board approved a proposal to acquire a 49% equity stake in NOPL Pace Green Energy Pvt Ltd (NOPL) for a cash consideration of ₹20 crore, subject to requisite approvals and completion of agreed conditions. NOPL is developing an aggregate solar power portfolio of approximately 990 MW (AC) in Maharashtra under Component C of the Government of India’s PM‑KUSUM scheme, aimed at solarising agricultural feeders and improving daytime electricity availability for irrigation. The portfolio is backed by a 25‑year Power Purchase Agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) at a fixed tariff of ₹3.10 per unit, with an indicative total project cost of about ₹3,900 crore and debt financing sanctioned by a reputed financial institution, subject to applicable financing and disbursement conditions.
At approximately 10:24 AM, Transrail Lighting shares were off their day’s high at ₹468.25 per unit, up 3.88%. The scrip has fallen 3% in the past week but gained 13% over the month. On a year‑to‑date basis, it has lost 16%. The stock reached a 52‑week high of ₹758 per equity share on October 23, 2025, and touched a year’s low of ₹400.65 on September 16, 2026. As of October 21, 2026, Transrail Lighting’s total market capitalisation stood at ₹6,285.87 crore according to NSE data.
Transrail’s acquisition of a 49% stake in NOPL Pace Green Energy is structured to grant the company financial and project‑management control under the agreed arrangements with Onix Renewable Ltd. The agreement also allows Transrail flexibility to increase its shareholding, potentially up to 100%, subject to mutually agreed terms and applicable approvals. This move aligns with the firm’s strategy to broaden its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its presence in the solar power sector, complementing its core transmission and distribution business.
