Adani Green Energy Q2 Earnings: Net Profit Up 16%, EBITDA Jumps 46%

Adani Green Energy, the country’s leading renewable‑energy company, announced on Wednesday, 21 October that its revenue from operations for the September quarter rose 42 % to ₹4,258 crore, up from ₹3,008 crore in the same period a year earlier. The company’s net profit for the second quarter of the current financial year increased 16 % to ₹747 crore, compared with ₹644 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. These figures reflect a solid top‑line and bottom‑line growth for the firm.

Energy sales for the quarter climbed 32 % to 25,747 million units (MUs) in the first half and 33 % year‑on‑year in Q2 to 12,090 MUs. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), also known as operating profit, surged 46 % to ₹3,797 crore from ₹2,603 crore a year earlier. CEO Ashish Khanna said the performance was equally strong, noting that energy sales increased 33 % YoY and revenue from power supply rose 45 % YoY to ₹4,019 crore, while EBITDA from power supply grew 51 % YoY.

The company highlighted a milestone in energy storage, expanding its operational battery‑energy‑storage‑system (BESS) capacity at Khavda to 6.63 GWh, the world’s largest single‑location battery‑storage installation. This makes AGEL India’s largest BESS operator, accounting for more than half of the country’s operational capacity. CEO Khanna added that the firm remains focused on scaling up storage deployment while closely monitoring the availability of transmission infrastructure for future growth strategically.

Operational capacity grew 24 % annually to 20.8 GW, putting the company on track to achieve its 50 GW target by 2030. On an annual basis, Adani Green Energy added 4,083 MW of greenfield capacity, including 2,957 MW of solar (2,568 MW in Khavda, Gujarat and 389 MW in Rajasthan), 805 MW of wind (666 MW in Khavda and 139 MW in Mundra) and 321 MW of solar‑wind hybrid capacity in Khavda. The firm also reported steady progress in developing the massive 30 GW renewable‑energy plant at Khavda, Gujarat.

The 30 GW project spans 538 sq km, almost five times the area of Paris, and is intended to set a global benchmark for ultra‑large‑scale renewable‑energy plants. Operational capacity in Khavda rose to 10.8 GW from 7.1 GW a year earlier, while investments in BESS help address curtailment challenges by providing greater flexibility in managing renewable generation. Following the earnings announcement, Adani Green Energy shares fell 4 % to an intraday low of ₹1,247.95.
