SRF reported its earnings for the July‑September quarter of the 2026‑27 financial year (Q2 FY27) on Wednesday, October 21, posting a 31.2% year‑on‑year jump in its consolidated net profit to ₹509.12 crore. In the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year, the company had logged a profit of ₹388.18 crore, according to a regulatory filing. However, sequentially, its profit declined by 32.9% quarter‑on‑quarter from ₹758.87 crore in Q1 FY27. The firm’s consolidated total revenue from operations stood at ₹4,904.2 crore during the quarter under review, registering a 34.7% YoY surge from ₹3,640.19 crore in Q2 FY26.

At an operational level, its EBIT (Earnings before Interest and Tax) increased by 26% YoY to ₹816 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹650 crore in the year‑ago period. The chemicals business reported a 25% increase in segment revenue to ₹2,079 crore for the reporting quarter, from ₹1,667 crore in Q2 FY26, with the fluorochemicals business delivering robust refrigerant sales volumes, supported by positive pricing momentum across key products, while maintaining its leadership position across primary markets.

Its specialty chemicals business navigated a dynamic operating environment shaped by evolving global pricing trends, industry overcapacity in China, and ongoing geopolitical developments, SRF said in a press release. During the quarter, both the Specialty Chemicals and Fluorochemicals businesses undertook initiatives to drive operational efficiencies. The segment posted a 51% YoY jump in its revenue to ₹2,122 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹1,408 crore in the second quarter of FY26.

During the quarter, the business achieved its highest‑ever packed production of films. However, Q2 demand was moderated by inventory build‑up following heightened buying activity amid the volatility witnessed in Q1. Demand for Aluminium foil remained healthy for the reporting quarter. The technical textiles business saw its segment revenue rise by 25% YoY to ₹595 crore, versus ₹474 crore in the year‑ago period, delivering a steady performance supported by healthy demand and improved margins.

Other businesses reported an increase of 18% in segment revenue, to ₹107 crore from ₹91 crore YoY. During the quarter, the Coated and Laminated Fabrics segments performed in line with expectations, given the prevailing market conditions. SRF’s board of directors also approved a project for setting up a manufacturing facility for the production of Aluminium foil for battery applications to capture growing opportunities in the Energy Storage and EV sectors in India by SRF Altech Limited, its wholly owned subsidiary.

The proposed facility will be established at the existing site of the subsidiary at Jetapur in the state of Madhya Pradesh with an estimated project cost of approximately ₹600 crores, to be implemented in two phases of ₹300 crores each. Chairman and Managing Director Ashish Bharat Ram said, “Our Businesses have delivered a strong performance, despite an uncertain and volatile global environment.” Shares of SRF closed 5.22% lower at ₹2,305 per unit on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday, October 21.
