Bharat Electronics Secures ₹1,011 Crore in New Orders, Army Radar Deal Adds ₹770 Crore
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, announced that it has secured additional orders worth ₹1,011 crore since its last disclosure on 13 October 2026. The new contracts cover a range of defence equipment, including improved low‑level lightweight radars, communication gear, sonar systems, jammers, upgrades, spares and associated services. The announcement is expected to keep BEL’s shares in focus on Thursday, 22 October, as investors assess the impact of the fresh inflow of orders.
The bulk of the ₹1,011 crore comes from a mix of high‑value contracts that span multiple product categories. BEL highlighted that the orders include advanced communication equipment, sophisticated sonar arrays, electronic jammers, and comprehensive upgrade packages for existing platforms. In addition, the firm will supply spare parts and provide after‑sales services, ensuring long‑term support for the defence forces. These orders reinforce BEL’s position as a key supplier of integrated defence solutions.
On Wednesday, the Defence Ministry signed a ₹770 crore contract with BEL to procure Improved Low‑Level Light‑Weight Radars (LLLR‑I) for the Indian Army. The deal was formalised in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. The radars are intended to enhance the Army’s ability to detect and track aerial threats, including mini and micro drones, thereby strengthening air‑defence capabilities across the country.
The LLLR‑I system can detect and track fighter‑sized targets as well as smaller unmanned aerial systems. It incorporates target‑prioritisation technology, allowing the Army to focus on the most critical threats. The procurement is part of a broader strategy to indigenise air‑defence platforms and is expected to stimulate India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, benefiting micro, small and medium enterprises.
Earlier this month, BEL received an additional ₹533 crore order covering communication equipment, avionics, cybersecurity solutions, drones, jammers, software, upgrades, spares and services. On 17 September, the company secured a ₹648 crore order that included a laser‑based IR jammer, communication gear, cybersecurity solutions, thermal imagers, transducers, AI‑based software, TR modules, upgrades, spares and services. Earlier August orders of ₹730 crore and ₹541 crore added further communication equipment, radar, avionics, electro‑optics, cyber security, perimeter security, medical electronics, EVM, batteries, ammunition fuzes and CBRN systems to BEL’s portfolio.
BEL’s first‑quarter FY27 results showed a 9% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹1,054.34 crore, up from ₹969.91 crore year‑on‑year. Core‑operations revenue surged 25% YoY to ₹5,546.98 crore from ₹4,439.74 crore. As of 1 July 2026, the order book stood at ₹72,258 crore. Cost of materials increased 55% YoY to ₹3,041.23 crore from ₹1,960.84 crore. The company will convene a board meeting on 30 October 2026 to approve Q2 FY27 results.
