IndiGo Extends Flight Cancellations to Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah Amid Security Concerns
IndiGo announced on Friday that it will extend the suspension of flights to and from Riyadh until 31 October 2026 (inclusive) and to and from Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until 27 October 2026 (inclusive). The decision follows heightened security concerns after attacks claimed by Yemen's Houthi group on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport. The airline’s travel advisory on X confirms the new dates and the ongoing monitoring of the situation.
The airline said the safety and well‑being of its customers and crew remain its highest priority. It added that it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with the relevant authorities. IndiGo’s statement emphasised that the decision was made after a careful assessment of the evolving security situation. The company reiterated its commitment to passenger safety throughout the extended suspension period.
Affected customers are being notified through the contact details provided at the time of booking, IndiGo said, advising passengers to check their flight status on its website before proceeding to the airport. Passengers can opt for a full refund, which will be credited to the original source of payment within seven days, or reschedule their travel at no additional cost. Those who booked through travel partners have been advised to contact them directly for assistance.
The latest extension follows an earlier suspension that had been extended to 24 October. IndiGo had previously extended the cancellation of flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until 24 October. Akasa Air has also extended the suspension of all flights to and from Riyadh and Jeddah until 27 October. The airline’s advisory on 18 October stated that the decision follows a careful assessment, with safety remaining the primary consideration.
The flight suspensions come amid heightened security concerns following attacks claimed by Yemen's Houthi group on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport. Air India, IndiGo and Akasa Air had initially suspended flights to Saudi Arabian cities until 17 October before extending the cancellations to 24 October. Air India has offered flexibility to affected passengers, including a one‑time complimentary date change for eligible bookings and full refunds for those whose flights were cancelled and who did not wish to travel.
