Adani Power Q2 Earnings: Net Profit Surges 134% to ₹6,919 Crore, EBITDA Up 60%

Adani Power reported a consolidated net profit of ₹6,919 crore for the quarter ended September, a 134 % rise from ₹2,953 crore in the same period last year. The jump was driven by a deferred tax credit of ₹459 crore. Revenue from operations increased 45 % to ₹19,439 crore from ₹13,457 crore year‑ago. The company, the country’s leading power generator, posted these figures on Friday, October 23.

Operating profit, measured as EBITDA, surged 60 % to ₹8,231 crore from ₹5,150 crore year‑ago. The EBITDA margin improved by 410 basis points to 42.34 %, up from 38.2 % in the prior year. These gains reflected stronger sales and improved cost efficiency across the company’s generation portfolio. The company also secured a 25‑year power supply agreement with Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited for 1,320 MW (1,234 MW net) and was selected as the successful resolution applicant for GVK Energy’s 330 MW Alaknanda Hydroelectric plant.

Adani Power signed a shareholders’ agreement with Druk Green Power Corporation to establish a 770 MW Chamkarchhu Hydropower Project in Thimphu, Bhutan, through a 49:51 jointly incorporated entity. The company also received a letter of award from Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited for a 25‑year supply contract of 1,320 MW (1,234 MW net). These developments expand the firm’s renewable portfolio and strengthen its presence in the Himalayan region.

The consolidated power sale volume rose 11.5 % to 26.4 billion units (BU) in Q2 FY27, driven by robust demand growth. India’s power demand increased 11.5 % to 502 BU in the same quarter, attributed to rapid economic growth and a weak monsoon. Adani Power noted that power generation rose 11 % year‑on‑year to 536 BU, with coal and lignite‑fired plants contributing 66 % of supply versus 65 % in Q2 FY26.

Peak power demand reached 270 GW in Q2 FY27, an 18 % increase from 230 GW recorded the previous year. Large states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra each accounted for 27 GW of peak demand, followed by Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with 23 GW, 20 GW and 16 GW respectively. Following the earnings announcement, Adani Power shares fell 1.88 % to ₹181, reflecting market reaction to the results.
