Mankind Pharma Shares Rise Over 8% on Q2 Earnings Beat and Growth Outlook
Mankind Pharma shares surged more than 8% during the trading session on Tuesday, October 27, after the company reported Q2 earnings that exceeded market expectations. The rally was driven by investors’ focus on the pharmaceutical manufacturer’s healthy revenue gains and strong margin growth in the July‑to‑September quarter. NSE data showed the stock rising 8.13% to hit an intraday high of ₹2,500 per share, compared with ₹2,312 at the previous close. Trading activity surpassed 1.6 million equity shares across NSE and BSE, according to Trendlyne data, fueling the high‑volume gains.
The company’s management highlighted robust growth in both domestic and international business verticals as key contributors to the overall revenue increase for the September quarter. Analysts predict further EBITDA growth potential, citing better visibility of exports and India’s prescription drugs business. JPMorgan analysts raised their EBITDA estimates for Mankind Pharma by 3% to 4% after the company surpassed Q2 expectations, noting that strong India Rx support and healthy export growth offset consumer weakness in the market. They maintained a ‘Neutral’ rating, awaiting more consistent India outperformance and a clearer consumer reset.
Macquarie analysts noted that the EBITDA beat was driven by a revenue beat, better‑than‑expected gross margin, operating leverage and lower‑than‑expected R&D expenses in the quarter. Mankind Pharma’s EBITDA margins expanded 210 basis points to 27.1% in the September quarter, from 25% in the second quarter of the previous financial year, as per the official NSE filing. This margin improvement helped the company beat net profit market estimates, aided by higher‑than‑expected other income and a modestly lower effective tax rate. Bernstein analysts cautioned that seasonally stronger acute demand, an easier GST‑affected base and limited new brand contribution make headline growth extrapolation uncertain.
Jefferies experts pointed out that muted consumer healthcare growth was the only weak point in Q2 earnings, a factor that attracted investor attention. The company’s consolidated net profit surged 39% year‑on‑year to ₹711 crore in the September quarter of FY27, compared with ₹512 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Revenue from core operations advanced 17.3% YoY to ₹4,338 crore, up from ₹3,697 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year. Operating profit improved 27.2% YoY to ₹1,175 crore, from ₹924 crore earlier.
Both domestic and international business segments registered strong growth, led by volume outperformance in the Indian pharmaceutical market and exports, while the over‑the‑counter drugs segments remained muted in Q2. Domestic revenues increased 15.9% YoY, whereas international revenues rose 33% in Q2 FY27, driven by robust growth in both Mankind and BSV International. The company also launched one new product during the period, bringing the total launched products in the United States to 50 items. Operating margins grew 300 basis points to 30% in the period under review, compared with 27% in the same period of the previous year.
The surge in Mankind Pharma shares on October 27 marks the second consecutive day of gains, following a 5.4% intraday rise after the earnings release during the afternoon market session on Monday, October 26. Analysts remain cautiously optimistic about the company’s future performance, noting that while export and India Rx visibility are improving, the sustainability of the current outperformance in the India business remains to be seen in the upcoming period. The company’s strong Q2 results and margin expansion have positioned it favorably among peers, but investors will continue to monitor consumer healthcare growth and new product launches for further insights.
