Hyundai Motor India Q2 FY27 Net Profit Falls 24% as Revenue Surpasses ₹20,000 Crore

Hyundai Motor India reported a 24% decline in its standalone net profit for the quarter ended 30 September 2026, posting ₹1,189 crore against ₹1,570 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. Total revenue from operations rose 18% year‑on‑year to ₹20,191 crore from ₹17,061 crore, marking the first time the automaker’s quarterly revenue exceeded ₹20,000 crore. Domestic volumes grew 19% both annually and quarter‑on‑quarter, with rural penetration reaching an all‑time high of 26.6%.

Operating profit, or EBITDA, slipped 20% to ₹1,912 crore from ₹2,383 crore year‑on‑year, and the margin contracted to 9.47% from 13.97% in the corresponding quarter. The company attributed the erosion in profitability to commodity headwinds, noting that operating leverage, a healthy product mix and cost‑reduction initiatives helped improve the EBITDA margin sequentially. These factors were cited as mitigating the impact of higher input costs on the quarter’s earnings.

Volume growth was supported by a 19% rise in domestic sales, with rural markets contributing 26.6% of total volumes, the highest ever for the company. CNG vehicles accounted for a record 19.1% of volumes during the quarter. Exports grew 4% year‑on‑year and 38% sequentially, despite geopolitical challenges, underscoring the firm’s resilience in international markets.

For the first half of FY27, Hyundai Motor India’s net profit fell 29% to ₹2,072 crore from ₹2,906 crore year‑on‑year, while revenue from operations grew 9% to ₹36,056 crore from ₹33,086 crore in H1 FY26. Managing Director & CEO Tarun Garg highlighted the quarter as a milestone, noting record volumes and the first quarterly revenue above ₹20,000 crore since inception. He forecast accelerated momentum in the second half of FY27, citing the Bayon launch as the start of a golden product cycle and a dedicated mass‑market electric vehicle slated for Q4 FY27.

Hyundai Motor India shares closed at ₹1,866.90 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.3%. From the beginning of the year, the stock has slipped 19%; over the past month it has fallen 9%, while it has risen 2% in the last six months. The share hit a 52‑week high of ₹2,468 on 3 November 2025 and a low of ₹1,658 on 6 April 2026. As of 28 October 2026, the company’s market capitalisation stood at ₹1.52 lakh crore.
