Power Grid Shares Rise Over 4% as Board Sets Record Dividend Date
Power Grid Corporation of India shares rose to an intraday high of ₹262 on Thursday, October 29, after the state‑owned firm announced the record date for its first interim dividend of fiscal year 2026‑27. The board fixed November 6, 2026 as the record date for determining shareholder eligibility. The announcement followed the company’s disclosure of September‑quarter earnings and the dividend schedule, leading to a 4.2 % rise in the stock price.
During the April to June quarter of FY 2026‑27, Power Grid reported a consolidated net profit of ₹3,598 crore, a 0.8 % decline from ₹3,631 crore in the same period a year earlier. The modest dip was attributed to a 2.6 % flat growth in Q1 revenue and higher tax expenses, which rose 1.7 %. Movements in regulatory deferral account balances also impacted profits, contributing to the slight erosion in earnings.
Despite the modest earnings decline, the company’s operational‑level earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) advanced 4.2 % in the June quarter, while margins improved by 125 basis points. The 4.2% EBITDA growth contrasts with the 0.8% net profit decline, reflecting the impact of higher tax expenses and regulatory deferral account movements.
At 1:18 PM on October 29, Power Grid shares traded at ₹260.45, up 3.6 %. From the beginning of the year, the stock has slipped 2.4 %. Over the past month it has lost 0.4 %, and over the last six months it has declined 19 %. Shares reached a 52‑week high of ₹324.95 on April 27, 2026, and a 52‑week low of ₹242.3 on October 23, 2026. As of the same day, the company’s market capitalisation stood at ₹2.42 lakh crore.
The board of directors will convene on November 1 to review and approve the financial results for the quarter and half‑year ended September 30, 2026. During this meeting, the firm will also declare its first interim dividend for FY 27. The dividend will be paid to shareholders recorded on the November 6, 2026 record date, ensuring eligibility for the payout.
