Concord Biotech Shares Drop 5% After Board Approves Bonus Issue and Capital Increase

Concord Biotech shares fell as much as 5% to an intraday low of ₹1,486.30 on Thursday, September 24, a day after the company announced that its board of directors had approved a bonus issuance and an authorised capital increase. The 5% decline marked the first significant drop since the board’s decision was disclosed. Investors reacted to the announcement, pushing the stock down to its lowest level of the day.

In a regulatory filing, Concord disclosed that the board has proposed issuing bonus shares in a 1:1 ratio, with one bonus equity share of ₹1 each for every fully paid‑up equity share of ₹1 held by shareholders. The bonus shares will be issued by capitalising the share premium account, subject to shareholders’ approval. The company also noted that it has a share premium balance of ₹81.97 crore as of March 31, 2026, available for capitalisation for the bonus issue.

The board has also proposed increasing its authorised share capital from ₹11 crore to ₹22 crore by creating an additional 11 crore equity shares of ₹1 each. This proposal is subject to shareholders’ approval and will involve a consequential amendment to the capital clause of the company’s Memorandum of Association. The increase would effectively double the authorised capital, providing a broader base for future capital activities.

Concord Biotech reported a 32.8% year‑on‑year jump in its net profit to ₹58.5 crore in the April‑June quarter of the 2026‑27 financial year (Q1 FY27), compared with ₹44.05 crore in the same period last year. Its revenue from operations stood at ₹257.4 crore during the quarter, marking a 26.2% year‑on‑year increase from ₹204 crore in the first quarter of the 2025‑26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26). The profit and revenue growth reflect the company’s expanding product portfolio and market presence.

At 10:20 AM, Concord Biotech shares were trading at ₹1,504.80 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, tumbling 3.56%. From the beginning of the year, the stock has increased 17%; over a month’s time it has advanced 2%, while for a six‑month period it has climbed 52%. Shares hit a 52‑week high of ₹1,695 on September 22, 2025, and a 52‑week low of ₹987 on April 2, 2026. As of September 23, 2026, the company’s market capitalisation stood at ₹16,323.27 crore.
